Workin' Hard

I have been spending some time involved with other things lately. The boy is keeping us busy. He is in full on walking mode.  I think his little baby legs were sore from walking so much the other day.  He is back in daycare and Wife is back to school.
The weather has been fabulous and I dont want to miss a second.
Work is picking up, at least for the next month or so. So, thats good.
And I visited my homeopathic dr. for the first time.  A good visit and following a little blood work Ill have a good idea of my general condition before I start to really head over the cliff of older age.  My b.p was 104/60 and my r.h.r was 60 bpm. Pretty damn good but Im sure my cycling has everything to do with that.
I have only had 5 beers in the last 4 weeks., as opposed to somewhere aroud 75. I am down to about 185lbs and hopefully the other blog I am working on will generate a little bit of money towards a new bike.for the spring. So, I got some stuff going on and I like it.  I think once the clocks go ahead in teh fall my blogging will ramp back up.

Curve Balls

Yep. Today was going along pretty good. Wife and I were swooning over the little one, who from here on out will be referred to as Lil'Guns, from the bassinet. I was making a grocery list, sitting down at the PC getting ready to put some Lil'Guns photos together for the family and she had turned on the water for a shower.
Then I hear a noise...not quite loud but it was there. So I head down the hall...turning towards the basment stairs..what is tha..? "Aww-fuck"...water is pouring down into the basment. I ran down to the bathroom and shut off the water. Sorry wife, no shower for you.

A pipe had broke at the shower head. So, being the handy motherfucker I am I started taking the drywall down to pin point the problem and start the repair job. The leak was right up at the top and apparently a hole had formed after the copper fitting in the silver shower rod thing that the shower head atatches to. I first tried to back out the silver part but the pipe dope held it tight and the threaded part snapped off inside the threaded portion. I will have to replace the small copper section and shower head rod thing shown in the picture.
At this point I have started it and should have done by tomrrow. Not that it actually takes two days, but considering that the firewood guy showed up, I got in the grocery shopping, picked up dog food, the parts for the plumbing job, cooked dinner and washed all dishes...I think it's ok.
Wife just had to have Lil'Guns suck on the boobie and poop chinese mustard all day ;)... i think i like what I had to do better.

Trials, Tribulations and Other Good Things

***ssssmmmmphhhhhhhhaaaa*****

My dad is staying with us for a couple of weeks. He is working at the garage pumping gas (opening and closing) while Wife's parents visit their family in Budapest.

On Monday after I got home from work Dad and I started laying down the hardwood floor (pic right) in the Baby to Be room. Luckily at work I got to have a business meeting on the Boss's sailboat (pic left). WooHoo!

Tuesday I drove the usual 1 hour to the office followed by 2+ hours to job site to work for 6 hours in 90 deg. hazy, hot and humid heat and run around in a dry dusty containment area. However, I did get to see a really cool steel cutter attached to an excavator. The contractor was in the last stage of tearing down the old 500,000-gallon above ground storage tank (pic. right).

I then drove back to the office stopping off at another job site to stick my head down a storm catch basin and squeeze petroleum out of a saturated sorbent pad to collect a sample (nasty pic. left). I made it back to the office at 6. By the time I got home it was a 330 mile day.

Driving back from the first job site I did get a good picture of some nice gneiss. It was in a road cut and I didn't have time to get great pic. or any scale in there but the rock face is about 10-meters. Nice Gneiss (pic. right).

Finally, on my way home I tried to pick up lobsters for dinner but all the places were closed. Fuckin' figures.
I arrived home at about 7pm and I then learned that my sink is HELLA clogged. For the next 2 hours we (me and dad) tried to clear the lines. We both got fuckin' hosed with nasty ass, rank sewer water. I thought we got the lines cleared but no....pretty much made it worse. Ill try again tonight.

Back to the grind.

Memorial Services

On Saturday last week my brother and I attended a memorial service for a second cousin once removed.
She was 24.
Death is sad.
Death of young people, death of children before their parents is tragic.
There were approximately 150 people milling about. Seemingly lost in the reality of the situation. Because of her age, there were many of her peers in attendance. Unlike the same service may have been for someone who has lived 70...80...or more years.
For them it was a sad and tearful occasion.
For me and my brother it reminded us of when our friend died at 22. For us that time was the same as this day.

Life moves forward. Time marches on.

However, our memories remain and theirs will too.
