Makin' Music

On Friday morning I disappeared deep into the winter Maine woods.  The black cast iron woodstove was cranking out warm dry heat when I arrived at 10.  The band members had been there a day earlier, setting up the makeshift studio. A studio we would not leave from for three days.  

 The computer program and motu were running properly.  The song list was laid out, all the practicing, practiced.  The goal was simple.  Lay down clean tracks for eight songs.

Once I was settled in and gone through an orientation period with the recording program we were ready to go. But first, WHISKEY SHOTS!  rock-n-roll, right?

 So began my three days in a dark room, listening to music with headphones as sound engineer of North Bridge.

This is Cortez (not his real name) and he has been my brothers, and I, friend for about 30 years now. He is like our brother.

He, my brother and my bro's woman are vacationing/ visting bro's woman's family way down south in St. Thomas. Sunburned, tatooed and wearing a christmas theme thong they sent me this pic (left) about an hour ago. Kind of brings new meaning to the phrase 'Jingle Bells'.
So, for some perspective on the whole scene, the pic below is where we would spend the majority of our time afterschool. Practing our licks, beats, and lyrics. In the pic is my brother (left) on the Eddie Van Halen knock off, Cortez (center) shreddin' the vocals and my uncle keeping solid time on drums.

Here to be Human

I used to have a download box at the bottom of the blog for music. Somehow the stupid files got deleted. So i just said 'eff it' and moved on. Then i saw that Kate had a link and download to a mp3 file. 'cool' i thought. I asked her how she did it and she told me. Yeah Kate.

So now this is my first run with the new download ability. Try it out. The song is from my brothers band Here to be Human. The song is Resurrection. He is not religious, just a english graduate who knows how to use words.

Fishbone!

Fishbone played at the Asylum in Portland last night. Guess who went? Yep, ME!, and brother (D)and semi-brother (C). A GREAT SHOW, definately in my Top 5 Best Live Show ever! Good music. I can't really say too much. Either you know Fishbone -or you don't. Typically, music people know.

The crowd was realtivley small but full of energy. Ill talk with D&C to try and get a song list put together. I also got some short video clips, Ill attempt to get those to my youtube page later this week.

Saturday Jammin'

The boys were at PoohBear's on Saturday night and we all let rip with some good tunes. We played from 5 pm to about 130am. Many drinks were drunk and the music flowed loud...and it flow
