Runnin' Again

I was a couple of years ago thathe ridin' mowah broke...Stattah shit the bed.
No big deal really. We just mowed with the push mower. Wife didn't mind (see here) and I didn't mind. We broke up the cutting into 3-one hour segments and got it done. Plus it was good extra exercise and we could play with the dogs at the same time.
But this year, with the LittleOne to keep track of, and all this rain, time is at a premium and keeping the lawn from looking like a hay field has been a challenge. That when I decided to revisit my riding lawn mower/tractor.
I pulled it out from the shed. Pulled off all the body panels. Cleaned out all the mouse nests, hosed off the shit and piss that came with the dirty little rodents and took a look at it. I changed the oil, and looked it over and then decided to take it up to the guy. I wont say it was beyond my ability to fix it, but it would be worth the 150bucks to fix. So the guy replaced the starter and a fuel line that had split from age.
We got it back home and now I can cut the grass...the whole lawn, in about 40 minutes compared to 3 hours. And I can drink a beer while I do it. Life is good.
oh yeah, the sweet custom paint job?...i did that meself with an air brush gun.

Weekend Update

This past weekend was very nice.

Friday began and ended with a commute to work by bike. As I have mentioned in earlier posts I drive most the way to work (~33 miles) , then ride the final stretch (~14 miles). I made it into work with a 18.9 avg and home with 18.3. I'm pretty sure I was slower because I was carrying more weight in the pannier and also took a different route that had a little bit more climbing to contend with.

On Saturday, dogs and I did our usual 2+ mile nature walk in the morning. Some people might call it a hike, but I'm my mind the relatively flat ground only qualifies it as nature walk. Anyway, when we got back I completed fencing a section of yard on the south side of the property. We have some new neighbors, who also have a dog, so it was high time I keep our critters in.

Sunday, after the yard work got done Mugsy and Tori stopped by on their way back home from up north for a bike ride. We got in a 27-ish mile loop. The four of us will be in the MS-150 this year, so we need to get some training rides in. 27 is good, but not long enough. We need to get in a few 50-70 mile days. Which is really only like 5 hours of riding or so.

Oh yeah also, Mugsy was able to get back in touch with a friend I haven't seen in years, WHEELS! It turns out that he is big into riding and competitive racing. Ill have to get over to Union and go for a ride with him.

cant believe it!

In 2006 i thought i had got an early start riding (see march 06 post). But today i just finished my first ride of 2007. January 4, 2007. wow.

Skillins Loop 13.39 miles at 18.5 mph avg.

The weather was overcast, 45 deg.F, and the roads are dry...sandy, but dry.

Im thinking the whole global warming thing could work out to be good...(more on that later)

*its a beautiful day in the neighboorhood*
