Guitarin' with Mr. Atkins

A couple of weeks ago the boy saw a CD in the player.
"'dis, dis, wana play 'dis" he says.
"Yeah."
The second it started playing he wanted to play along with his guitar. That at this point he has no concept of how to really use it.  But it was after the first super-cute music session that I made up a strap out an old belt of Wifes and recorded the video below. It can't hurt to start early.
Now every time we listen to the CD, we get this show:

Plus I figure that Chet Atkins and Tommy Emmanuel are a pretty damn good guitar role models.

More Music

Slingshot-ing off of my previous post I dug up a picture of myself when I was about...mmmm 16. Same basement, now with much more equipment.
The Eddie Van Halen Honer and sunburst 12 string are still there. The banjo body is just visible in the lower right. As is a cymbal for the drum kit, thou not pictured. But now there are two more electric guitars, one in a modified flying 'V ' even . I'm sure there is other equipment not pictured.
I (in my neon glory, lol, oh the late 80's) am sitting on my Fender Bassman 10 with 4x10" speakers. Ohhh its a sweet tube amp. Best sounding amp ever. Next to it is my brothers Fender guitar amp. It also is a 4x10. This fucker could CRANK. That amp has since gone to amp heaven. The bassman lives on. I don't play much anymore, but i will never give it up. Hell, LilGuns may need an amp one day.
So to wrap this shit up...here is a song in about 2002 by my brothers band Here to Be Human.
Open Summertime.mp3
Its even an MP3. I got a converter, so please let me know if it works or is all FUBARed. Also please leave some feedback. Thanks.

Here to be Human

I used to have a download box at the bottom of the blog for music. Somehow the stupid files got deleted. So i just said 'eff it' and moved on. Then i saw that Kate had a link and download to a mp3 file. 'cool' i thought. I asked her how she did it and she told me. Yeah Kate.
So now this is my first run with the new download ability. Try it out. The song is from my brothers band Here to be Human. The song is Resurrection. He is not religious, just a english graduate who knows how to use words.

The file is a *.wma; would it be better if I change it to mp3? Want more? Send me feedback.

Workin' Man

Yeah, I finally got a field day!

This past week a a co-worker and I went to a site on Cottage Street in Bar Harbor (pronounced, Bah-Ha-bah) to conduct a soil gas survey. The picture is of me using a hammer drill to make a hole through the asphalt; And that hammer drill kicks like a friggin' mule I tell ya! *side note* Once thing about B.H. is that in addition to all the tourists there are also a lot of hippie kids with fat bank accounts and rich parents who just hang out all summer and smoke pot. Annoying, at least take a shower. oh and petruli oil is fucking rank. *anyway..*

Since we were making holes so close to underground pipes we vacumed out the hole with that shopvac and pvc pipe down about four feet. Then insert the steel rods and turn on the PID to check for gasoline vapor. The whole deal worked slick as shit. A little bit physical, but it was better than doing paper work. I've got to say too, that the data was good and the methodology for the assessment of vapors solid.

So I did that at two sites last week and hopefully laid the ground work for more of these types of jobs at the company.

While I'm here and writing; notice that I added a music download to the right side bar. Feel free to download any of the music that I put up there. It is my brothers band and the songs are from a CD they made a while back. He thought it was pretty cool that I could starting spreading his stuff via the webs. Ill have to add a link for him once he gets something up.

I also decided to add a PayPal donate button. I figure I might as well start pimpin'. Why not? Beside if you really like the music or my wittings you can throw some spare change this way.
